GASPARD GIRARD D'ALBISSIN

In November 2026, Prima presents a new solo exhibition by Gaspard Girard d’Albissin. For this new series of paintings, the artist continues his exploration of found imagery, focusing on scenes in which clothing, material and light take precedence over the subject itself. A red leather trench coat caught in its reflections, pale satin, a knotted tie, gleaming hair, polished shoes or metallic fabrics: bodies are often fragmented, sometimes almost entirely absent, while tight framing transforms these details into motifs. Fashion emerges less as a subject than as a vocabulary of forms, textures and staging. Under the flash, surfaces gleam, crease and distort, shifting ordinary images towards a sense of strangeness.

Born in 1988 and based in Paris, Gaspard Girard d’Albissin develops his paintings from anonymous photographs, fashion imagery and snapshots drawn from the digital stream. Through cropping, glazing and a precise treatment of light, he removes these images from their original contexts to reveal their pictorial potential. Drapery, reflections and shimmering surfaces evoke both the history of painting and contemporary visual codes: fleeting fragments to which painting gives a new sense of duration.
