SOUDÉ: EXPOSITION COLLECTIVE

4 - 26 July 2025
Overview

OPENING ON JULY 3, 2025, AT 6:00 PM

WITH JULIE CHEVASSUS, LOUIS LANNE, ANASTASIA SIMONIN & KAZUO MARSDEN

For the July summer exhibition, the gallery is pleased to present Soudé, a group show featuring artists Julie Chevassus, Louis Lanne, and the duo Simonin & Marsden.

What binds them together is, first, a shared generation that passed through the Beaux-Arts schools of Paris and Marseille, but more importantly, a common way of building networks and envisioning art as a space of porosity and flow.

Through very different mediums and styles, one unifying thread emerges: metal. It appears alternately as raw material, motif, or metaphor for a possible fusion.

In Julie Chevassus’s paintings, recovered metal objects—rusted, twisted—become anchor points for an enigmatic world, oscillating between still life, fictional architecture, and surreal strangeness. On wood coated with casein, she creates a dialogue between the roughness of metal and the tenderness of organic forms, blurring the lines of scale and narrative.

The duo Simonin & Marsden present, among other works, their sculpture Hum, representing the fusion of two neurons at the precise moment of their contact—a meeting materialized in tin. Their works evoke a tactile and dreamlike imaginary. Through these hybridizations, their practice explores the invisible links between elements, beings, and objects, in a sensitive and collaborative approach where uncertainty becomes a method.

Finally, Louis Lanne works with unexpected supports, such as Velleda whiteboards framed with metal, on which he layers drawings, paintings, markers, glues, and tar. Like a kind of visual zapping, his works condense colorful micro-narratives, drawing equally from comic book culture and a reinvented childlike iconography.

Soudé is thus an opportunity to highlight an emerging scene, united by a rigorous artistic inquiry and a fresh perspective on materials, forms, and the relationships they allow us to invent.

The gallery is proud to support this new generation of artists and to offer, through this exhibition, a space of friction, unity, and sharing.
