ANIDE
Anide (born in 1994 in Lyon, lives and works in Paris) develops a painting practice where abstraction and figuration meet in an intimate dialogue. In Lyon, he made a decisive encounter at Studio H13, a space dedicated to alternative and emerging cultures, before moving to London, where he was deeply influenced by the queer-punk scene, photography, and surrealism.
Now based in Paris, he continues a pictorial exploration nourished by mythology, ancient philosophy, Jungian psychology, and contemporary poetry. Working without sketches, he lets forms and figures appear and then dissolve through a process of improvisation. Through layers of covering and erasure, he reveals veiled presences, buried symbols, and traces of humanity.
“The essence of Anide’s work seems to hide like ghosts behind the curtain of our consciousness.” — Moritz Wassmuth
