HELENA MINGINOWICZ

Overview

A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań in 2011, Helena Minginowicz lives and works in the same city. A finalist of the Bielska Jesień 2023 contest, her work explores the boundaries between what is perceived and what is truly visible, examining human perception and relationships in their full complexity, from intimacy to distance.

The artist draws inspiration from daily life and the subjective way each person filters reality through their own experiences and emotions. Her works play with visual illusion and subtle contrasts to prompt reflection on the construction and interpretation of reality. She combines ephemeral materials—such as paper towels, plastic bags, or beauty masks—with durable supports like canvas. This juxtaposition highlights the tension between fragility and permanence, while revealing the often-overlooked beauty of everyday consumer objects.

Using an airbrush technique, Helena Minginowicz creates images with smooth transitions and precise contours, evoking both the softness and sharpness of contemporary digital aesthetics, such as GIFs or advertisements. Her multi-layered works delve into the paradoxes of modernity, exploring themes of impermanence and vulnerability. By transforming ordinary objects into sources of emotion and thought, her art invites a reconsideration of the invisible details and unspoken narratives of daily life.
